Go Natural

Go Natural and here's how

So, you always wanted natural hair but you just don’t know how or not sure where to start? Well, I’m here for that and I will help you!

Its stressful to go all natural, I know! It’s all because you are so used to having relaxed hair and I know how frustrating it is to grow natural hair. It is hard to maintain or grow so you have to be very patient and take good care of your hair

Here are a few tips and tricks to growing natural hair. This is how I did it. There are two methods which is the big chop and transitioning (which I did)

Transitioning

So transitioning is the best method if you are not confident enough to cut all your hair and go bald. It’s a long process but it’s worth it and a bit expensive because you will be experimenting with different products to see which works for your hair. On your relaxed hair avoid

  • Heating your hair (no more heat, you don’t want your hair to fall off right? yup, thought as much!)
  • Using a relaxer (this is a no go zone if you want natural hair, you are not natural until all your relaxed hair is chopped of lol)
  • Combing your hair too much, this will leave your scalp burning (this will be caused by your frustrations when not being able to comb through your hair like you used to with relaxed hair) and you will have headaches. Trust me I’ve been there.

The best products to use when transitioning

  • Aunt Jackie’s curls and coils products (Shampoo, leave in conditioner and curl la la curling cream)
  • Groomed by earth (African black soap, virgin coconut oil, shea butter)
  • Maroza products (Maroza hair fertilizer for hair growth) VERY IMPORTANT FOR NATURAL HAIR

Make sure when transitioning you wash your hair once a week but basing your scalp is very important maybe after 2 days. This is how you wash your hair when transitioning;

  1. Shampoo- Wash your hair with a shampoo (any choice but for natural hair)
  2. Conditioning- If you used a shampoo in the previous step you will need to use a rinse out conditioner to add the moisture back into your hair
  3. Moisturize- This step is called LOC (Liquid, oils, cream) on dry or damp hair
  • Liquid- leave in conditioner of your choice
  • Oil- to seal in the moisture
  • Cream – any cream of your choice but I recommend Aunt Jackie’s curl la la because it leaves the hair so soft
  1. Always air dry your hair, it’s not a good idea to use a hair dryer on natural hair.

Use these products until you see growth. That’s when you’ll decided to go for the big chop after a long time of transitioning.

The big chop!

So many people go for the big chop only if their hair is damaged really bad and I would advise you to do so if your hair is damaged. The advantage to a big chop, your hair grows faster and healthier. Okay, so, for this one you have to be very brave and confident because it’s hard already to go from big hair to short hair! It is very stressful but you can do it if you want healthy hair and starting afresh.

Don’t even worry beautiful, embrace your short hair. This is what you have to do on the day of your big chop

  • Decide on the length you will chop off
  • Decide whether you are ready or not because it is stressful
  • Do not chop your hair yourself unless you are very good with hair and you won’t regret it after that.
  • After big chop, massage your scalp with Maroza Hair fertilizer, I promise your scalp will breathe and your hair will grow

It’s not easy but you won’t regret it when you have thick and healthy hair. Go for it, I did it, you also can! Now that you’ve decided on the big chop, wait until your hair is beautiful and healthy. I promise you, your friends, family, colleagues and strangers will come to you and ask for hair advice!

Give your hair a few months and you will be singing BIG HAIR, DON’T CARE!

It’s not enough to just clean the face just for the sake of it, it has to be thoroughly clean (so clean you can feel it) To make sure the skin is squeaky clean, start with removing oil/dirt/makeup with gentle wipes then a deep cleanser, a facial wash and then toner to get the skin’s PH back to normal.

To keep eye shadow from creasing (unless you’re going for a cut crease look), eliminate as much oil as possible from your lids. Use an eye shadow base or pressed powder before applying color. You can also use a lighter shade of eyeshadow as a setting base.
